Treatment for my media video project

 Treatment 

Title: The Hole

Logline: A girl named Chloe finds a strange hole in the wall of her house that ends up transporting her into a different world. She goes on a journey searching for a way back home. 

Plot summary: One day Chloe (the human) starts to hear some strange tapping. Wondering where it is coming from, she explores her house. She realizes the tapping is coming from inside the wall and finds a little hole where she sees a strange light. Chloe gathers up her courage and decides to investigate the hole. The more Chloe looks at the hole the more she is drawn to it. She realizes the world she is looking at is different from her own then suddenly, WOOSH! Chloe gets transported into the strange world. She explores the beautiful world she is in and all its flowers and animals. Then she realizes she needs to find a way home and starts to search for the hole. On her way a little fantasy creature named Ava pops out of nowhere and offers to help Chloe return home.  

Main characters: Ava (The mythical creature), Chloe (The human) 

Key Characters: Ava is a mythical creature that loves to explore and all things new. Shes walking through the town when she sees a someone new (Chloe).

Chloe (The human) is a regular girl that loves to read. She dreamed of being in one of the fantasy worlds she read about in her book, well one day it would come true.

Set up main characters: Through the video Ava will develop by learning about humans. She also feels accomplished by helping Chloe and becoming friends.

Through the video Chloe will learns the importance of home and making friends. The video will end with her realizing it was all a dream.

Explore the acts: We open to a girl sitting on a couch reading a book when she hears a tapping sound (wide shot). She wonders where the sound is coming from and decides to investigate. A quick run through her house, she realizes it was coming from inside one of her walls (full body shot). Chloe then finds a strange hole in the wall where light is coming through. After a moment she gathers up her courage and decides to investigate the hole. The more Chloe looks at the hole the more she is mesmerized by it (close up shot). She quickly realizes the world she is looking at is different from her own then suddenly, WOOSH! Chloe was standing in a whole new world. This world was beautiful, it had colorful flowers and trees. Suddenly Chloe realizes she is lost and does not know how to get home, she franticly starts looking for the hole that brought her here. As she is looking around Chloe comes across a town of fairies, gnomes, and elves. She figures that one of them must know where she came from and goes into the town. In the town she comes across a mythical creature named Ava, this elf is caring and clever so, she was happy to help Chloe find her way home. Ava told Chloe that the wise tree would know where the portal (hole) was and how to get there. The wise tree told the girls that the hole would cross the valley near another great tree. Chloe and Ava head off in search for the hole near the great tree.  

Epilogue: After a long and hard journey they finally found the tree they were looking for, and like the wise tree said there was the hole that would take Chloe home. Chloe waved goodbye to Ava and the world she had come to love when though the hole, WOOSH! Chloe woke up on the couch reading her book and realized it was all a dream. From that day Chloe learned the power of her imagination.

1.  Media representations are studied through the portrayals of different social groups, such as age, social class, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and disability. I think this statement is about how through media studies movies are now able to better represent different social groups correctly. I feel that this stamen mentions how the representation of different cultures, ages,  social classes, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and disability has been improving due to  media studies. One movie that does a good job of showing the representation of another culture is "The woman king." This movie shows how a kingdom lived and survived even at the worst of times. We learn about their native dances, weaponry, clothing, and methods of healing. While this film does a good job representing this kingdom, I don't think all media accurately represent every social group it covers. Critical Reflection Questions

   Critical reflection PowerPoint   I created this PowerPoint by using inf ormation from previous assignment questions. In my final PowerPoint I answered questions about conventions, social group or issues, audience engagements, how my production skills developed, and how I integrated technologies in my video production.   In my PowerPoint   I   included  information on all these questions along with picture of my video. While creating this PowerPoint  I  did encounter a few problems. The first problem I had was with my PowerPoint  system. Once I  had all the information into the  PowerPoint  I the needed to record a voice over per the instructions. Unfortunately,  when I  went to record my voiceover,   I   realized  I didn't  have the record button. The record button is usually in the top right of the screen but for some reason it wasn't  these. To overcome this,  I recorded my voiceover as a separate video.
